| ANSI Open Commerce Services | A standard architecture for evolving and migrating HPe3000 MPE applications. Continue to develop with confidence on the HP e3000 knowing that the solutions are operating system, DBMS, and Hardware independant. |
| Overview | OCS Components | |
| The ANSI Open Commerce Services is a framework aimed specifically at Companies
who know they are reliant on limited life, high TCO, "Proprietary
systems"; Companies who need to ensure that they achieve and maintain
competitive edge through the new initiative of Internet and Intranet linked
infrastructures. The ANSI OCS are based on open standards that integrate with existing systems and can easily respond and evolve to rapid change. Regardless of choice of hardware, operating system, or DBMS, including MPE/iX , TurboIMAGE, or Eloquence, solutions written using the ANSI OCS frame-work will interoperate with other solutions that follow current industry open systems standards, with little if any reprogramming. The ANSI Open Commerce Services (OCS) for evolving HP3000 applications are designed around Java and the J2EE standard because we believe that this platform offers the widest scope for platform neutrality, availability of component software from third parties, choice of J2EE application servers from major corporation like IBM, BEA, Oracle, and Redhat, and availability of comprehensive development and test environments supporting the J2EE platform like Websphere, Eclipse, and Netbeans. |

| The benefits of employing OCS | ||
|
OCS is designed to integrate client-side java-based presentation logic
with J2EE server-side Java design methodologies inclduing socket listeners,
servlet, JSP, and EJB architectures, operating within any J2EE standard
application server. By following J2EE design principles, any part of an
existing application can be easily migrated to a different platform or
to a different database; multi-databases can be accessed concurrently. So application development investment is effectively and efficiently leveraged whether you continue to develop on the HP3000 or evolve or migrate parts of your applications to different platforms. An important aspect of J2EE, in addition to platform neutrality, is that it is highly scalable and offers in-built transaction security. OCS is designed to integrate with the evolving Web Services technolgies - SOAP, UDDI, WSDL which are XML based W3C standards providing platform neutral methods for businesses to automate E-commerce interaction with customers and suppliers. |
